Well, can you believe it? The day I leave Robe, the sun has made a temporary appearance. Just in time for my epic road trip of, brace yourselves, 43 km.
Is it really any wonder I’m not getting very far.
Although I can tell you that so far I’ve travelled a whopping 1457 km. That’s approximately 26 km a day.
What I find more concerning is that I ran approximately 281km since arriving in Australia 🤮.
The sun was out but for how long?
Robe -> Kingston SE
Not a lot to see en route, mainly because I was only driving around the corner. However, there was somewhere… or was it indeed fugging nowhere?
Cape Jaffa
Not one cake or orange in sight. Immediate let down.
One very misleading sign later, “Tourist Drive,” my buttholio, I found a nice jetty and a space where a lighthouse used to be???

A lovely elderly lady seeing my utter confusion kindly informed me that Cape Jaffa Lighthouse had been relocated. Relocated? What the actual Fugg!
Kingston Foreshore Caravan Park
Upon arrival at the caravan park the sun decided enough was enough and retreated back to the shadows of hell.
Apart from nearly peeing my pants in reception, I really enjoyed my stay here. Due to my bizarre relationship with odd numbers, the lovely lady at reception allowed me to move to an even-numbered site without hesitation.

And even better, it was opposite a Lighthouse!
Cape Jaffa Lighthouse
That’s right, the relocated Lighthouse of Cape Jaffa was now in Kingston SE. Even worse, it wasn’t even functional.

At least I didn’t have to run far to see it.
Kingston Jetty
Another town another Jetty. I’m starting to become as obsessed with Jetties as I am with lighthouses.

“Larry” the Lobster
Built in 1979 to promote local seafood and other local culinary delights, at 17 m tall this thing is a sight to behold.
I can also confirm that, as I stood underneath it, it was incredibly detailed and equally horrifying.
Dudley Bridge
There are two reasons for me to include this random bridge.
- As a black country girl it seemed fitting.
- In the 1950s they attempted to remove the original bridge’s screw piles, but it was too difficult so they just left them. This is a work ethic I can get on board with.

Other Random Stuff
So far I have seen more “historical landmarks” in one morning run in Kingston SE than I have anywhere else on the planet.

Absolutely exhausted, coupled with a side order of more rain, it was time to move on.
Kingston SE -> Lake Albert
I cannot recall anything of interest on the drive here, I think I genuinely was far too moody because of the weather .
Lake Albert Caravan Park
I didn’t have any real desire to stay here other than it was a convenient place between Kingston SE and Victor Harbour.

I don’t know where to start but this place gave me my first full nervous breakdown of the trip so far.
I don’t know if it was the rain, the absolute miserable fugging moomin in reception (I’m trying to keep this blog PG, but this guy was a C**k guzzling W**k muffin), or the fact that there were no rules in place for where to park in the unpowered section.
After 15 minutes of driving backwards and forwards, trying to give everyone space and get my vehicle straight enough that I might sleep, I gave up and cried. I cried like an absolute moomin.
Enter Maureen, a lovely lady who came to my rescue not only with some kind words, but an idea of where to park and a cup of tea. I mopped my face, fished out the obligatory Tim Tams and a new friend was made.

American Idiot (Green Day 2004)
Now, I am not political, but I am tighter than a duck’s butt. (If you are not British, this means that I do not like to waste money.)
Thanks to the walking wotsit, the price of diesel in Australia is causing chaos. At the beginning of my journey, it was $1.75 a litre, and today I saw it at $3.20. So, thanks a bunch, you tangerine moomin.
At this rate, I will have to ration my Tim Tams.
Bush Tucker Bingo
I’m pleased to report, that whilst I can still afford food, I’m trying really hard with this one 😂

That’s another week finished, please let there be sunshine, PLEASE!
XOXO
